Role Summary
OOTB Art Studio is seeking a passionate and reliable Ceramics Instructor to lead beginner-friendly wheel throwing and handbuilding classes. The ideal candidate enjoys teaching, creating a welcoming environment, and helping students build confidence in ceramics while maintaining studio standards and safety.
Key Responsibilities
• Teach wheel throwing and handbuilding classes for adults, teens, and private events.
• Provide clear demonstrations and hands-on coaching.
• Adapt instruction to different skill levels and learning styles.
• Set up and reset workstations, tools, and materials.
• Label and organize student work for drying, bisque firing, glazing, and pickup.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized studio environment.
• Communicate class expectations, firing timelines, and glaze options.
• Create a friendly and welcoming experience for students and guests.
• Collaborate with studio leadership to improve classes and studio operations.
Qualifications
• Strong foundation in wheel throwing and/or handbuilding.
• Ability to teach beginners in a clear and encouraging manner.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Reliable, organized, and able to work independently.
• Evening and weekend availability preferred.
Preferred Skills
• Knowledge of glazing techniques and ceramic processes.
• Experience with kiln loading and firing procedures.
• Experience teaching youth programs, workshops, or private events.
• Photography, videography, or social media content creation skills are an asset.
